Highlights from the OPEN ENLOCC General Assembly held online on 12th December 2024

The 2nd General Assembly of the year of OPEN ENLoCC members was successfully held online on 12th December 2024. It was a great opportunity to inform the members of the internal developments of the Network, starting from the enlargement of its team to the set of the activities the Network is carrying out, both with regards to European projects in which it is involved and the future initiatives OPEN ENLoCC is going to launch in the upcoming year! 

Here are the highlights of the General Assembly. 

New team 

OPEN ENLoCC team enlarged in the last months! President Giuseppe Luppino introduced to the members the new staff. Luca Simone joined OPEN ENLoCC in October 2024 as Project Manager. He will carry out the technical parts related to the European project in which the Network is partner. Marco Alvi is the new Communication Manager, supporting the important communication activities of the Network both with respect to the European projects and the engagement of the members of the network. Finally, Giorgia Facchini joined the team in December 2024 as Financial Manager. 

European Projects 

After a brief introduction, the day’s agenda opened with the activities of which OPEN ENLoCC is involved as a partner. Currently, the Network is an active partner in three Interreg projects GRETA, FOOD4CE, MED COLOURS, and Horizon Europe’s TRANSCEND project. OPEN ENLoCC gives strong support to these projects both on the technical and communication side. 

Riccardo Maratini, Programme Manager of OPEN ENLoCC, presented the technical activities of the FOOD4CE, GRETA and MED COLOURS projects, giving highlights of the importance of these projects to enlarge the knowledge within our Network. At the same time, Elisa Bianchi gave relevant insights about the leading role of the OPEN ENLoCC in the communication activities of FOOD4CE and MED COLOURS projects. Concerning the TRANSCEND project, started in September 2024 and coordinated by LIST, Luca Simone and Marco Alvi presented the technical and communication activities respectively. 

Events and Scandra Alliance 

Recently, OPEN ENLoCC has also increased its presence in physical events: 

  • ALICE Logistics Innovation Summit held on November 6-7, 2024, in Brussels celebrating the 10th anniversary of the ALICE ETP. In this occasion, OPEN ENLoCC had the opportunity to interact with many European stakeholders and present the results of MED COLOURS project. 
  • Participation to the AutoSUP workshop in Trieste, on December 11, 2024. AutoSUP is a Horizone Europe project aiming at supporting the development of a multimodal automatic freight transport and enhance the operation of hubs as nodes in a Physical Internet logistics network.  

Dr. Astrid Szogs gave some relevant updates about the collaboration between OPEN ENLoCC and the Scandria Alliance. Our network has recently participated in the Coordination Group meeting that has been taking place. The main goal of the Alliance is connecting regions from Northen to Southern Europe, providing an arena for cities and regions to collaborate on climate smart, multi model transport connectivity and then all of that of course at the interface at sustainable regional development. 

Interreg Mapping 

Luca Simone presented a new monitoring tool developed for the OPEN ENLoCC network. A monitoring system of the calls of Interreg Programmes has been developed to facilitate and foster the work of the network members in applying for funds and creating partnerships for future Interreg projects. The tool is already available on the Network’s website. 

Communication activities 

Elisa Bianchi and Marco Alvi introduced the proposed communication activities for the upcoming year. As our internal structure is evolving, our network is going through a rebranding process, planning to renovate its website, logo, and related communication materials. We are also going to increase our presence within our network, setting regular meetings with the members and providing news through an internal newsletter. Moreover, we want to promote the members’ activities through our website and social media channels, relaunch the network journal including thematic articles drafted by the synergic collaboration of our members.

Finally, the General Assembly concluded with the decision to décharge to the directors for the execution of their mandates till date and thank them for the services that they have rendered to the association and that they will continue to render. 

We thank the active participation of the members of our network and their contribution in the discussion of the proposals to increase the role of OPEN ENLoCC in European regional collaborative logistics.

In 2025, OPEN ENLoCC is ready to take on new and exciting challenges that will help the network grow. Stay tuned!
