Logistics solutions (on strategic and tactical levels) generally focus on long-distance transport and distribution logistics at the urban level.
Long-distance perspective is mainly made of industrial flows and affecting logistic nodes and the TEN-T network (national/international).
Urban perspective encompasses also the metropolitan level and is, in turn, made up of two different types of logistic flows:
distributive (city logistics, which can be similar in terms of “forced” collaboration on the basis of rules and restrictions established by the public bodies and where the collaboration between private actors could mainly focus on sharing digital (e.g.) aimed to minimise costs and impacts by optimising last-mile operations) physical resources (e.g. micro-hub, last mile carriers, curb management)
industrial flows (which encompasses also the whole supply chain cycle organisation, and which can be more affected by RCL)
The problem we perceive is the insufficient coverage of the REGIONAL logistics aspect, which results in a lack of collaboration.
This questionnaire is therefore aimed to elaborate on the concept of Regional Collaborative Logistics (RCL), which allows improving efficiency and sustainability by leveraging the synergies and team-working of different actors in the supply chain. To this end, we are mainly (though not exclusively) focusing on horizontal collaboration (e.g. between different firms at the same stage of production), fostering a “conscious” approach (while, in general, it could be also unconscious). Obviously, the whole picture, not to be neglected, encompasses also vertical collaboration (which is usually managed and regulated by contracts between customers and suppliers) and mixed situations.
